Join us for a raw and electrifying reading featuring mk zariel, who will be sharing work from its latest chapbook, Different With Him.
These poems live in the rooms where boys learn how to be, sometimes together, sometimes alone, sometimes getting it gloriously wrong. They're about the ache of wanting in, the cost of staying out, and what gets made in the space between.
Different With Him is a collection of haphazard masculinities, an effort to find belonging, a love song for genders and genres in flux. These poems double as late-night texts for the trans boys who reinvent the world together at 1 a.m., for the cis boys who could use a little reinvention themselves, and for the subcultures that can either empower or break us. From classic inner-voice scenes to an overly dramatic debate at an anarchist convergence, this chapbook traces the ephemera of a transmasculine adolescence. It…
