A Cycle
by Devayani Anvekar
A nimbus of despicable thoughts
forming in my mind.

There is going to be a great hustle of
harsh winds and heavy pouring of
doubts, anxieties, now.
Culminating in a fierce
storm. Scary depression. Toss off
rooftops and crumble down walls
of small houses. Happiness. I have
been building and living in.
As if in a fortress
protecting the king, his queen, and his
subjects – his kingdom from invaders
lay low in wait for an opportune time to
strike and invade.
Claim the kingdom
as theirs to preside and rule or turn it into
a cracked plain of scattered dusty remains
of fine buildings, mum like mummies
waiting for an opportune moment to rise
and raise more finer houses, buildings,
castles, and fortresses.
For yet another
resurrection of the kind, happy king, his
queen, and his subjects. Safe and happy.
A cheerful realm again.
My mind. Clear and serene once again.
