Dear my heart,
How do you fare?
I left you on the bank of the sea - and didn’t look back.
I thought the turtles and crabs would covet you - for me,
They’ll bury you deep down -
So, some wandering child may take you while digging holes -
Planting watered-down castles and houses.
I wonder if they did?
Did they peer at you and ask why you’re so thin? Did they squish you and see if any blood runs out? Did they sigh and dump you after they found you weren’t fun anymore?
Sincerely sorry if they did!
It wasn’t my intention - I just needed - No, wanted to go on - without you - The pit in my stomach was opening out too much, and every step felt like it was the last - To carry on with you was a death sentence -
Apologies again.
I’m ready to return,
I’ve packed green tea and sandwiches for the voyage there and back home. Finally finding what home means -
I shall be there for you -
So soon again,
Your Keeper,
***
