Midnight Madness

by Eman Ozair

Full moon in a dark, cloudy sky above silhouetted pine trees. Moody and mysterious nighttime scene with deep blue and black hues.

Thinking about what I forgot during the day,

Flooding back into my mind at night,

All these thoughts I try to fight

Prove to me that I'm never right.

I smile at people who don't care,

Who looks down on me when I fail,

While I overlook everyone’s mistakes,

But never get the same treatment as them.

I recall everything at night,

All the memories that have hurt me so far,

Suffocating myself with them in pain,

Feels like I’ve been through an actual war.

Sitting on my old rug with a mug,

Drinking coffee while missing no one,

The silence is calm yet deceiving,

Makes midnight thoughts mad and grieving.
