Thank you, my angel dear,
for brushing teeth when I am near,
for cuddling close before the night,
Mommy loves her girl so bright.

But listen now, and guard this treasure:
a word of safety, love’s true measure,
so small it fits wherever you go,
yet strong enough to guide you—“No.”
If a stranger asks for touch you dread,
say no, my love, lift your head.
If a friend’s request makes your heart wrong,
say no, my dear, you are strong.
If even someone close won’t hear—
say no, my child, be bold be clear.
“No” is no thorn, no spite, no knife,
but shield of love to guard your life.
One day you’ll learn, as children grow,
love shines brighter when you say no.
Respect will rise, like blossoms sweet,
and kindness gather round your feet.
So thank you, love, for yes tonight,
but promise Mommy, hold me tight:
when yes feels false, let courage flow,
then trust your voice, your power—No.
Now sleep, my angel, safe and deep,
to dreams of strength that you shall keep.
