More Than Butterflies

by Kellee Kranendonk

Gut-wrenching, steel trap-jawed butterflies

Saw blade wings, I’d rather eat paint

Moisture-slicked body, adrenaline

Fueled, heart tapping faster than

A woodpecker’s beak

Image is of a window with dozens of orange butterflies flying around the room.
