I like your glasses, they whisper,
as though they know most people
would object to them.
They are on the gaudy side,
sunset pink with mottled blobs
that pass for a design.
Nothing demure about thick,
plastic frames that ride
my nose like a bucking bronco.
I chose them with deliberation,
thinking they might suggest
there’s still life in this old lady.
