The End

by Nicole Christine

They tell you every ending

has a beginning -

every closed door

opens a new window.

What if this is meant

to teach us patience?

Compassion, for when the time does end-

Hand in a gray sleeve touches a foggy car window, with blurred trees outside in a quiet, misty scene.

we will know which way to go

I don’t want to hide how I feel,

or worry about saying the wrong thing,

the quiet whispers

make me wonder when

the end will come.

How can we talk so much?

Listen so little -

What if we listened?

It’s very serious-

to believe what you say

and practice gratitude

for when the end does come

you’ll be prepared to say

Good-bye
