Trapped in the Abyss

by Thomas Beckwith

There is a state of shock with each message,

moment, and movement.

It leaves you in a fetal position not wanting

to eat, sleep, or fight anymore.

You’re not an heir to a throne,

but a prisoner to your ancestors’ pain.

The miseries, mysteries, and difficulties.

Some things have changed, but it is more of the same.

You cannot break free or run away,

You’re an heir to the pain.
